FREQUENTERS FINED

Eighteen Chinese who were arrested yesterday to a fan-tan raid appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning. Detective-Sergeant McHugh gave evidence that frequent complaints had been received by the police concerning the premises. The basement was to a filthy condition and a menace to the city. Sixteen Chinese found on the premises were fined sums ranging from £1 to £5. Two Chinese charged with using the premises for gambling were remanded till January 22.
