A PORTRAIT OF KING EDWARD.— Members of the council of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters discussing Mr John St. Helier Lander s portrait of the King on private view day at the Royal Institute Galleries, Piccadilly, London, on November 19. This is the first painting of King Edward VIII. in admiral’s dress and wearing the Garter mantle, to be shown. The group includes Mr Hugh Riviere, Mr George Harcourt, R.A., Mr T. C. Dugdale, A.R.A., Mrs Flora Lion, and Sir John Lavery, president of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. The picture of his Majesty was painted for the Master Mariners’ Guild.
