ANTI-GAS TRAINING

ORGANISATION TO PROTECT CIVIL POPULATION MELBOURNE, November 12 To consider means of protecting the civil population against gas attacks, the Chief Secretary (Mr Bailey) at the request of the Commonwealth Government, will soon call a conference of representatives, of State Government departments. The Commonwealth has agreed to provide funds and equipment for the training and also instructors.

The departments represented at the conference will include the police, the explosives branch, the railways, halth authorities, tramways, hosiptals, and ambulance organisations. All phases of gas attack will be considered, and sub-committees probably will be appointed to go into certain details.

"The conference will be only a beginning, and the organisation may be extended later,” said the Minister.
