On a holiday tour to New Zealand and Australia, the Hon. Mrs Nelson Hood, Brighton, England, whose husband, the late Hon. Alfred Nelson Hood, was a great-grand nephew of Lord Nelson, of Trafalgar fame, was a passenged by the Ruahine, which arrived at Wellington this week from London. Her husband was a son of Viscount Bridport. The tour being purely a pleasure one, Mrs Hood will spend about five months in this country, before going on to Sydney, where she intends to spend a further month. This is her first visit to the Dominion, and while here she intends visiting a number of the scenic attractions. She will be staying with relatives at Auckland.

The New Zealand Contract Bridge Association, formed in Wellington last October, has decided to send a team of contract bridge players to Melbourne to play matches against members of the Bridge Association of Victoria. The players chosen are Mrs G. B. Morgan, Miss Halmai Loughnan, Dr J. P. McQuilkin, and Mr R. deR. Mitchell, all of Christchurch, members of the team that won the New Zealand championship in Wellington on October 26. The team expects to leave New Zealand by the Marama on December 30, and will probably spend two weeks in Melbourne.
