KUROW MEETING

SMALL FIELDS BUT GOOD RACING CUP TO QUEEN DOROTHY Typical Waitaki spring weather prevailed on Saturday for the Kurow Jockey Club's annual meeting, a hot nor’-wester sweeping down the river basin. The course was dry and dusty, but times were faster than usual, and one or two were claimed to be records for the track. Fields were on the small side, but there was some really interesting and eventful racing. Tire attendance was not above the average, but the totalisator handled £4026, compared with £3457/10/- last year, and it is expected that the club will be able to balance accounts on the meeting. The Kurow Cup race produced a spirited contest between Queen Dorothy and Polydora, victory going to the North Otago mare by a very narrow margin After the race Mrs A. S. Cambridge, wife of the president, presented a silver tea se ( t to Mr McCone, one of the owners of Queen Dorothy, whose victory was naturally very popular.
