OBITUARY
SERGEANT J. R. HODSON The death has occurred of Sergeant J. R. Hodgson, officer in charge of the Frankton police station. Born in Yorkshire, he served throughout the South African War, after which he joined the Halifax police. He joined the New Zealand police force in 1907, and served at Napier, Dunedin, and Wellington. He did good work during the Napier earthquake in 1931, being later transferred to Timaru. Sergeant Hodgson went to Frankton about 18 months ago. He took an active interest in Freemasonry.
