PLEASANT VALLEY
SUCCESSFUL DANCE The dance, organised by the St. Patrick’s Dance Committee, Geraldine, in aid of the church building fund, and held in the Pleasant Valley Hall on Wednesday night was very successful both socially and financially. The hall was very prettily decorated with bowls of spring flowers, clematis, and cabbage trees, while cotton wool streamers fell with a snow-like effect from the ceiling. During the evening vocal solos were contributed by the Rev. Father P. O'Meeghan (Ahaura). The ladies of the parish served a very dainty supper. Music was supplied by a Timaru orchestra, and Mr A. Earl acted as M.C.
A most enjoyable feature of the evening was a community “sing” held during the supper interval, and led by Mr E. O. Schnack, who was most successful in his endeavours to persuade all present to raise their voices in song.
Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss Kathleen Spillane and Mr Leary and Miss Margaret Brophy and Mr J. Lysaght. A lucky spot fox trot was won by Miss Kathleen Stevenson and Mr B. Sugrue. Those present included: Mr and Mrs J. Brophy, M and Mrs F. Charles, Mr and Mrs J. Laffey, Mr and Mrs A. Coleman, Mr and Mrs J. Lysaght, Mr and Mrs J. P. Kerr, Mr and Mrs Bailey, Mr and Mrs C.
