With a financial result that is stated to have exceeded all expectations, the Catholic bazaar was officially brought to a close last night. For the final session the Drill Hall was crowded and even at a late hour, when the result of the queen carnival was announced, there was still a large number of people in the hall. The tug-of-war contests, the activities of those in charge of the various games, the auctioning of the remaining stocks in the stalls, and the announcing of the results of the various competitions, all helped to provide a carnival atmosphere, which was sustained to the end of the proceedings. Included in the entertainment part of the programme last night were dancing items by Misses K. Plever and E. McKay. The officials in charge of the bazaar expressed themselves as more than satisfied with the results and stated that the response of the people had been nothing short of wonderful. Queen Carnival Tlie final position of the candidates in the queen carnival was as follows: — Votes New Zealand Queen (Miss M. Rosevear 58.720 Irish Queen (Miss M. Kelly).. 56,341 Country Queen (Miss F. Lynch) 21.369 The crowning ceremony will take place in the Scottish Hall to-morrow night. The coronation will be preceded by a concert. Tug -of- War Tournamen t The following tug-of-war contests were decided last night: Championship In a pull to decide the runner-up in the championship. Fishermen B beat Celtic F. Challenge Stakes Final St. Andrews B beat Celtic B.
