BONDS OF KINSHIP

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

By Telegraph—Press Association

AUCKLAND. September 28

New Zealand's cordial relations with Australia was the keynote of the civic reception tendered Mr B. S. B. Stevens, Premier of New South Wales. Others present were Sir Archdale Parkhill, the Hon. J. Shand, and Sir Richard Linton.

The Mayor, Mr E. Davis, said the bonds of kinship, common purpose, mutual defence and reciprocal passenger and tourist traffic would hold the Commonwealth and the Dominion

closely together, so that visits such as Mr Stevens would weld a further link in the chain of friendship. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, representing the Government, joined in the welcome.

“We greatly appreciate this act of kindness, which is in keeping with the friendship of goodwill which exists between the two countries,” said Mr Stevens in reply. He had travelled through eight European countries and his indelible impression was the very high esteem in which Britain is held. She was carrying a tremendous responsibility with magnificient strength.
