Upon their return from New Zealand, Mr Shaw, manager of the Rugby Union team, said the New Zealanders had treated them handsomely. The results of the tour were disappointing, but the team were greatly handicapped through injuries and illness. He added: "I really believe we should have won the first test, and New Zealand papers agree that there were cases of Illegal interference at vital moments that meant much to us.”
