The suggestion that the Automobile Association (Wellington) should give support to the Minister for Transport (the Hon R. Semple) in his expressed intention of ridding the country of the “hit-and-run” motorist was made by Sir Thomas Wilford at the complimentary dinner tendered him at Wellington. “The Minister for Transport the other day said he was going helter-skelter after the ‘hit-and-run’ motorist,” said Sir Thomas. "I would like to see the executive of the Automobile Association at its first meeting pass a resolution congratulating the Minister upon that definite purpose and telling him that the 6100 members of this association will go helter-skelter with him for the same purpose.”
