HAWKING OF SHARES
ACCUSED REMANDED By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, September 28. Share transactions in the McArthur Trust, Ltd., involving £15,000, were mentioned in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when Harold Calvert, share salesman, aged 52, appeared before Mr E. E. Levvey, on a charge of share hawking. The charge was that within the last three years, in July and in August, 1935, at Riverton and elsewhere, Calvert had gone from house to house offering shares in the McArthur Trust Ltd., a company incorporated in Queensland, to certain members of the public, namely debenture holders in the Investment Executive Trust., Ltd. Calvert, who appeared on remand, was further remanded to appear at Invercargill on October 16. Bail was allowed in £5OO, and Calvert was ordered to report to the police daily.
