Mr and Mrs D. J. Lack have returned to Dunedin. Miss L. Zukerman, Mount Cook, is a guest at the Dominion. Mis s D. and R. Hoffman, Gore, are guests at Seaview House. Mrs E. D. Reilly and Miss A. Reilly, Dunedin, are staying at the Empire. Mrs W. R. Jamieson. Christci'-cch, is at the Grosvenor. Mrs Bowles, Remuera, Auckland, is staying with her daughter Mrs Frank Ruddenklau, Rangitata Island. Mrs C. H. Gresson, Selwyn Street, who spent the week-end in Christchurch, returned home yesterday. Miss Gwyneth Roberts, Geraldine, left yesterday for Dunedin, where she will reside in future. Miss Doris South, Geraldine, left yesterday on a short holiday visit to Christchurch.
Mrs Hunter-Weston, who is staying with Mrs Gladstone Robinson, “Oakwood,” will return to Dunedin to-day.
Mr and Mrs L. Acland, who have been on a visit to Timaru have returned to North Canterbury.
Mrs Henry Harper, “Grassy Hills,” will arrive to-morrow to stay with Mrs W. H. Orbell, “The Levels.” Miss Oliver, Christchurch, who has been the guest of Mrs J. R. McLeod, Raukapuka, Geraldine, has returned home.
Miss Nancy Bond, Timaru, and MH. Fenn, Maungati, who have been the guests of Mrs E. S. Elworthy, Four Peaks, have returned home.
Mrs R. G. Thompson, Temuka, has x eturned after spending a few days with her mother, Mrs F. Stowell, Timaru.
Miss P. Talbot, Kakahu, Temuka, has returned from an extended holiday in Christchurch where she was the guest of Canon and Mrs A. H. Norris.
Mrs J. Abbott, Murray Street, Teniuka, Is due to arrive in Temuka after an extensive tour of Great Britain, Ireland and the Continent.
Mr and Mrs J. A. Hunt, Island Bay, Wellington, will arriva to-day to stay with Mrs W. K. Paterson, Chalmers Street.
Mrs W. D. Campbell and the Misses Ailsa and Margaret Campbell, Wai-iti Road, returned yesterday from a visit to Dunedin.
Mrs H. D. James and Miss Margaret James, Greymouth, who have been staying with Mrs B. L. Kennedy, Raukapuka, Geraldine, are the guests of Mrs L. B. James, Te Weka Street.
Guests at the Balmoral include Mr and Mrs A. H. White (Blenheim), Mr and Mrs H. D. Williamson (Peel Forest), Mrs Price, Miss M. Wilson and Miss M. Seely (Dunedin).
The engagement is announced of Christina (Ina) elder daughter of Capt. and Mrs J. McLachlan, Richmond Street, Timaru, and William Thomson, only son of Mr and Mrs R. Brown, Wansbeck Street, Oamaru.
The engagement is announced of Effie Vashti, only daughter of the late Mr C. A. Selbie, of Bay of Plenty and Mrs V. A. Selbie, of Winchester, and Hector Macdonald, son of the late Capt. A. L. MacKillop, West India Regiment, Jamaica and Mrs E. MacKillop, Bedford, England. Mr Johanns C. Andersen, librarian of the Turnbull Library, Wellington, who is at present travelling in Europe, speaks in glowing terms of a recent visit to his native land, Denmark, which he says is a beautiful place. After viewing many of the artistic works of the country, and inspecting t'.- Royal Copenhagen porcelain factory, he had the good fortune to be able to proceed to Kronborg. This opportunity was afforded Mr Johanns Andersen through a happy meeting with a Dane who had pleasant recollections of the Turnbull Library during his visit to New Zealand 12 years ago.
