THE AWATEA

SCHEDULE MAINTAINED

By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, September 28

After experiencing a gale last night coming down the New Zealand coast, the Awatea arrived to schedule time this morning, easily making up the extra half hour summer time.

Captain Davey said the ship behaved wonderfully and averaged 21 knots until the last four hours of the trip, when speed was reduced to 17 in order not to arrive in port ahead of schedule. She was berthed without assistance, flying the Tongan standard in deference to Queen Salote Tubou and Prince Tugi, Consort and Prime Minister.

Mr N. S. Falla, managing director of the Union Company, who had been on a business visit to Australia, said the new ship was enthusiastically received at Sydney.
