AUCKLAND SITTING CONCLUDED By Telegraph —Pi es? Association AUCKLAND, September 24. After a session occupying almost six weeks, and involving the hearing of a number of compensation cases. ■ and many industrial disputes, members of the Arbitration Court left Auckland to-night for Hamilton. During the sitting, industrial disputes of a major character were heard at Auckland for the first time since 1932. At Hamilton the Court will hear workers’ compensation cases. From there it will go to Rotorua to take evidence which is to be submitted in support of an application to amend the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ Award with reference to the 40-hour week. The Court is due at Wellington on Tuesday to hear the Dominion Bakers’ and Pastrycooks’ dispute, and from Wellington the Court will go to Greymouth, being due there on October 2 to begin its West Coast session. It will return to Wellington in time to begin on October 19 < le of the most important cases it has to deal with, the basic wage hearing. Further fixtures will be made at Wellington. Some of the decisions for the Auckland hearings have not yet been released, due to pressure of work on the Court, but they will be published bv the Court as opportunity occurs. BASIC RATES OF WAGES PARTIES NOT FINALISED By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, September 24. The Arbitration Court sits here on October 19 and subsequent days *o determine the basic rates of wages. Inquiries made indicated that representation of the respective parties has not yet been finalised. It has been learned, however, that among those who will be taking a prominent part in the proceedings will be Mr T. O. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, Mr J. Robinson, Dunedin, secretary of the Otago Trades and Labour Council, and Mr J. Roberts, secretary of New Zealand Waterside Workers in several organisations.
