September 22. “There is one rule in the theatrical world —the show must go on,” said Miss Florence Desmond (Mrs CampbellBlack) for whom the opening of "Let’s Raise the Curtain” has been fixed for September 28. Miss Desmond is rehearsing for the show, which was originally intended to open on September 21, when the news of Mi- Campbell-Black’s deata was broken to her. Miss Desmond to-day said; “The player owes a service to his or her workers, and the public. Over 100 artists, musicians and stage hands who have worked for weeks would be faced with unemployment if the leading lady dropped out.”
