ABYSSINIA’S STATUS AT GENEVA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright GENEVA, September 22. The Credentials Sub-committee unanimously decided to submit to the Hague Court the question of Abyssinia's eligibility to be represented at the Assembly. The sub-committee will advise the Assembly whether Abyssinia may meanwhile take part in the Assembly meeting. According to the British United Press correspondent, Mr W. J. Jordan repeatedly asked the Committee who had objected to Abyssinia's credentials, but received no answer. It is assumed that Italy will not attend the present Assembly. ATTITUDE OF COURT MAY REFUSE TO GIVE DECISION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright GENEVA. September 22. The Credential Committee’s proposal to refer the Abyssinian question to The Hague will be the subject of a vote in the Assembly. It is recognised that The Hague might decline to give a ruling, or might contend that there is insufficient information to recommend the Commission to go to Western Abyssinia to investigate conditions. Anyway, no early reply can be expected. Meanwhile Italy is adhering to the decision not to send a delegation to Geneva until the Abyssinians are finally excluded. INDIA’S ATTITUDE TO LEAGUE REDUCTION IN SUBSCRIPTION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 23. 10.30 p.m.) SIMLA. September 23 By 35 votes to 6, the Council of State recommended a reduction in India’s subscription to the League of Nations. In consequence of this decision. a motion urging India's withdrawal from the League, which the Government opposed, was dropped.
