Kerr, “Belmont Cave,’ who have been staying in Timaru have returned home. Mrs R. H. Rhodes, “Carne,” Sealy Street, who is on a visit to Christchurch, is expected home to-day. Mrs C. E. Kerr, Avenue Road, left yesterday to stay with Mrs G. Macßae, Lincoln. Miss Shirtcliffe, Hart Street, who has been spending some months in Christchurch, has returned to Timaru. Mrs P. R. Woodhouse, Bluecliffs, who is on a visit to Christchurch will return home to-day. Mrs Abercrombie, Dunedin, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs F. J. Robinson, Ashbury Avenue. Mrs J. S. Satterthwaite, Nile Street, has returned from a visit to Mrs Clive Crozier, Christchurch. Guests at “Bronwyn,” Wai-iti Road include Miss Nancy Dale, Miss Lorna Rice. Mr Adcock and Mr Dereck Adcock, Christchurch. Janet Gaynor, Dorothy Lee, and Louise Latimer are the three smallest actresses in Hollywood, each of them being no taller than five feet two inches, nor heavier than seven stone six pounds. Each of them must wear clothing of special design, made three sizes smaller than S.S.W. Eleanor Whitney is another smaller player, wearing a size-one shoe. Mrs R. G. C. Fitch, a member of the New Zealand Stocking League, and other we’l-known organisations in Wellington, will leave by the Wanganella to-day for Ceylon where she will represent the New Zealand Y.W.C.A. at the Eastern Regional Congress to be held at Colombo from October 21 to 28. Aft r r the conference she hopes to pay a short visit to India. Mrs Alfred Watt, M.A., M.8.E., who is on a visit to New Zealand is the Canadian-born president of the Associated Countryw men of the World. She was unanimously elected as president at the triennial conference in Washington in June, when over 7000 American farm women made the greatest pilgrimages in the history of the Countrywomen movement. Mrs Watt has received many other honours in recent years, and has addressed many important bodies in different parts of the world, including the only address by a woman at the British Empire Summer School at Oxford; the famous German Agricultural General meeting of the Reichsnahrstand; the annual meeting of 10,000 women of the English Women's Institutes in Albert Hall, London; the meeting of the Northern Housewives of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, at Aarhus, in Denmark. AmoSg the honours received, Mrs Watts values two most highly—that of the French Government order of merit, and the life membership of the Canadian Women’s Institutes.
