ANNUAL INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS KEEN COMPETITION The annual inter-school basketball and football tournaments under the auspices of the Geraldine District Primary School Sports Association were held in ideal weather conditions at the Geraldine Doman and the Primary School yesterday, when the games were controlled by members of the teaching staffs of the various schools. The Winchester School was successful in winning both the basketball and football sections. In order that a large school should not have an undue advantage over the small schools, the Geraldine School was subdivided into teams under the names “Ohau,” “Pukaki” and “Tekapo” in both the basketball and football sections. The results were as follow: Basketball A Section First Round—Pukaki A (Geraldine) 9 beat Ohau B (Geraldine) 0; Ohau A 9 beat Tekapo B (Geraldine) 0. Second Round—Pukaki A 2 beat Ohau A 0; Winchester 18 beat Pukaki B 0; Tekapo A 4 beat Hilton B 1; Orari 5 beat Hilton A 1. Semi-finals—Winchester 6 beat Pukaki A 1; Orari 8 beat Tekapo A 2. Final—Winchester 3 beat Orari 2.

BOWLERS WIN SHIELD The Geraldine Bowlers’ team won the Geraldine and District Cribbage Association’s shield in the tenth and final round of the season played on Tuesday evening, and the W. W. Williamson Memorial Cup for the leading pair went to Messrs C. Stock and J. R. Lack of the Bowlers’ team. Details were as follow:—Citizens 29 beat Raukapuka 22; Oddfellows 27 beat Orari Bridge 24; Bowlers 26 drew with South End 26. The results for the aggregate of the ten rounds were:—Bowlers (261 points) 1, Raukapuka and Orari Bridge (259 points) equal 2; Oddfellows (252 points) 4, Citizens (251 points) 5, South End (245 points) 6. The highest scorers in the pairs competition for the Williamson Memorial Cup were:—Messrs C. Stock and J. R. r ack (Bowlers), 87 points; Messrs G. W. Coombs and D. Macdonald (Citizens), 74 points; L. P. Scott and J. Turton (Raukapuka), 73 points; S. H. Lapthorn and R. Tagg (Oddfellows), 72 points; W. Crotty and T. Sommerville 69 points. The Mayor (Mr B. R. RUGBY SEVEN A-SIDE SPLENDID ENTRIES RECEIVED Splendid entries, the highest for some years, have been received for the annual seven a-side Rugby tournament to be conducted by the Geraldine Football Club and the Geraldine Sports Association on Saturday. The entries, which include two teams from Christchurch (Sydenham and Sunnyside), total 42, comprised as follow:—Senior, eight; junior, 10; third grade, eight; fourth grade, 10; and fifth grade, six.
