Messrs E. W. Crossley (Wellington), W. McKee J. R. Sim (Dunedin), and W. McSkimmihg (Auckland) ate registered at thfe Grand. Included in the guests at . the Dominion are: Messrs A. A. Duff, R. Gow (Dunedin) and E. Bateman (Christchurch). Mr Warwick Gregory, New Zealand manager for the Port Shipping Line, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara from Vancouver after a visit to England. Mr E. S. Rea, accountant at Dannevirke fbr the Public Trust Office, has received advice of his transfer to Auckland. He will be replaced by Mr H. F. Mclntyre, of Masterton. Messrs T. Quirke, P. Bennett (Christchurch), E. Match, B. C. Clarkson (Wellington), J. R. McKay (Dunedin), B. Humphries (Melbourne) and R. A. W. Sutherland (Wanganui) are staying at the Empire. Mr R. H. Bush, who retired last week from the position of clerk of the Magistrate’s and Warden's Court at Thames after 38 years’ service, was presented with a canteen of cutlery at a function in the Thames Magistrate’s Court. Staying at the Grosvenor are: Messrs H. Boulton, R. G. Button, F. H. Swan, E. L. Mead, W. C. Brotherhood (Wellington), S. B. Simpson, A. L. Lister (Christchurch), N. Stephenson (Auckland) and R. J. Featherston (London). Dr. F. Hodgkiss, formerly of the staff of the Timaru Hospital, who has been for the last two years engaged in hospital work in England, is returning to New Zealand, -where he is due in about two months. Mr C. R. Barnicoat, who has been engaged at the Dairy Research Institute, Palmerston North, left for San Francisco by the Makura. He has been awarded a Commonwealth Fund Fellowship, entitling him to study at the University of Minnesota for two years. Mr J. F. Quinn, Commissioner of Crown Lands for Canterbury for the last three years, who has been appointed to the head office of the State Advances Corporation to take control of the Discharged Soldiers’ Mortgage Division, will leave for Wellington on Monday. Advice has been received by the Governdr-Gencral (Lord Galway) that the King has approved of the appointment of Colonel J. E. Duigan, D. 5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, Officer Commanding the Northern Command, Auckland, as Aide-de-Camp (Additional) to the king, in succession to Colonel F. Symoh, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., Regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery, who retired on August 5 last. Dr. F. W. G. White has been offered the position of professor of physics at the Canterbury University College, left vacant by the retirement of Dr. C. Coleridge Farr. Dr. White has for the last three years been a part-time lecturer at the London Polytechnic. If Dr. White dbes not Wish to accept the post it will be offered to Dr. R. G. J. Fraser, of the physical chemistry laboratory at Cambridge.
