VICTIM OF GERMAN INTRIGUE?

FALL OF RUMANIAN STATESMAN MAY THREATEN EUROPEAN PEACE Onlted Pless association—By Blectrlo Telegraph -Copyright (Received September 3, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 3. The “Sun-Herald" News Agency says that though the new Rumanian Premier, M. Tatarescu, declares the country's foreign policy will not be changed, M. Titulescu’s fall has caused uneasiness in the Balkans, where it is feared he has been a victim of the “Fascist International.” Russia considers King Carol’s action threatens European peace. The Bucharest correspondent ,ot “The Dally Telegraph” states that M. Titulescu was the victim of German intrigue. Three days prior to his dismissal, the Rumanian Fascist leader, M. Octavian Goga, returned to Bucharest from Berlin and reported to King Carol the result of confidential talks with Herr Hitler, and produced a copy of M. Titulescu’s dossier, which was compiled by the German secret police, alleging that M. Titulescu was not only negligent of Rumanian interests but while abroad discredited King Ca: !’s political aims. King Carol immediately concocted a plan with M. Tatarescu for jettisoning M. Titulescu. “Suicide by Rumania.” The newspaper “Isvestia” states: “It is still too early to see whether the change means permanent orientation to Germany—equivalent to suicide bv Rumania —but in M. Ttitulescu Rumania loses her most influential politician and the cause of peace loses one of its most active friends.”
