Telegrams of congratulations from the King to the chairman of the Cun-ard-White Star Line, on the record crossings of the Atlantic by the Queen Mary were read to the ship's company when they mustered before the ship’s departure from Southampton to New York. The first of the telegrams was despatched after the liner had made the westward journey in record time, and the second, which was sent after the arrival of the Queen Mary in British waters, offered hearty congratulations on the completion of the record.
