IN QUEST OF FUNDS

SCOUT INGENUITY Here is a true story showing Scout ingenuity: A certain patrol of Scouts were seeking ways and means of raising funds and finally they had a “brainwave” and as a result of theid labours in that direction raised enough money to go camping with their own outfit. Here is the successful “brainwave.” The patrol by means of a small rubber printing outfit had set up and printed a neat handbill to the following effect: “TRY YE DOGEE LAUNDREE” “We undertake to release you of the unpleasant job of washing your dog. We come to your house for him, take

good care of him and bring him safely back to you.' Our prices are from Is to 2s 6d per dog, according to weight. Flea soap extra. Please telephone, and a member of our patrol will call for your dog!” This was followed by the name, address, and telephone number of the patrol leader. “The patrol did not give out these announcements indiscriminately to everybody in the neighbourhood. The boys had carefully checked all dog owners. Their success was overwhelming. To their extreme satisfaction, they found a great number of people who were desirous of having them wash their dogs. Within a short time, they earned enough money to go camping with their own outfit. And did they have some exciting times? I should say they did, and, what is more, I should also say that they most emphatically deserved them.
