STATEMENT BY MINISTER RECIPROCAL CONCESSIONS PROVIDED By Telegraph - Press Association WELLINGTON, August 24. Interviewed to-day regarding the cable message from Brussels, announcing a trade agreement between New Zealand and Belgium, the Minister of Customs (Hon. W. Nash) stated that when Mr Coates was in England in the latter part of last year, he conducted negotiations with the Belgian authorities in connection with the agreement between the two countries, which was entered into in December, 1933. Mr Nash said the cable message no doubt had reference to the implementing in an amended form of the extended agreement arrived at by Mr Coates. The extension involved further concessions on the part of New Zealand, in respect of a few classified items, and the removal of the surtax on others. Reciprocal concessions would be made by the Belgian Government. Full information regarding the items affected would be furnished later.
