WEDDING

McALLEN—-KELLY Southland and Otago friends among others will hear with interest of the marriage celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, on Saturday morning, between Mary Patricia, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Nicholas Kelly, of Gore, and Thomas Ulric, son of Mr M. McAllen, and the late Mrs McAllen, of Dunedin. The Rev. Father Seymour, S.M., performed the ceremony which was accompanied by Nuptial Mass. Mr B. Murphy assisted as organist, and Miss Marie Campbell sang a solo. In the church were artistic floral decorations of japonica and yellow narcissi with arum lilies on the altar. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of deep parchment French cloque, the flowing lines of the skirt continuing into a very long train. Cut on the bias, it fitted slimly, the plain bodice made with low draped neckline having a cluster of orange blossom in its folds. A corded belt finished the waist, and a slight puff was featured at the shoulders below which the sleeves tapered to the wrist. Her veil was of beautiful Limerick lace and was kept in place with a circlet of blossom, falling the length of the train. Her bouquet was of rich red abutilons. Little Patricia Ellis and Jennifer Wardell were her train-bearers, both in frocks of water-lily green suede courgette made with tiny bodices and full ruched skirts with taffetas sashes and wreaths of Tuscany red on their hair. A bouquet of primrose and red abutilons was carried by the bridesmaid, Miss Nora Kelly, the bride’s sister, whose trained frock was of water lily green cloque cut on the cross to give a Grecian effect. The bodice had long tight sleeves and was offset by slightly cowled lines finished at the side with a spray of primroses and the waist was defined by a linked rouleaux stitched belt. She wore a halo hat of the same shade as her frock. Mr Frank Newmarch was best man. A reception was held subsequently at the Bay Tea Rooms. Mrs Kelly received her guests wearing a smart gown of wine shaded charlaimaine and Bankok straw hat with bouquet of freesias and violets. Mrs S. McAllen (Dunedin) wore a floral morocain frock in tones of blue and gold, and hat to match. Iceland poppies were in her posy. For travelling, the bride wore an ensemble of navy blue crepe kapre, with novelty white braided motif at neck and wide scarlet belt. Her hat was of navy and white in the new ‘Jack Tar” shape, and she also wore a navy cloth coat trimmed with fur.
