LATEST ADVICES The Shaw Savill steamer Raranga completed loading potatoes for Monte Video and general cargo for the Homeland at Timaru on Saturday and sailed in the evening for Lyttelton. The Holmdale arrived on Saturday night from Oamaru and berthed at No. 3 wharf. She should sail to-day for Lyttelton with Wellington, Picton and Wanganui cargo. NOTES The Waikouaiti has been delayed in Dunedin and is now due to-morrow to discharge Australian cargo and to load return general cargo for the Commonwealth. The Storm, on the Wellington and Wanganui run, is due to-morrow from Oamaru. The Karu is set down to arrive tomorrow from Oamaru for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth cargo. The Wingatui is expected to reach Timaru on Wednesday from Oamaru to load for Picton, Wellington and Auckland. Conversion to a Whaling Factory Palmers Hebburn Co., Ltd., have secured a contract from Mesrs C. Salvesen and Co., of Leith, for converting the whale oil-carrying vessel Strombus into a whaling factory. The contract is one of the biggest conversion jobs secured by the Tyne for a considerable time. Liner Rangitane The general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Mr C. M. Turrell, has received a cablegram from London stating that owing to engine trouble the Rangitane was not expected at Colon until yesterday, and it is not anticipated that she will clear Balboa until August 11 or 12. She is en route from London to Wellington and Auckland, and is due here on September 1. The Rangitane is still expected to clear Auckland finally on September 24 for London via the Panama Canal. London Shipping During the week ended June 19, 968 vessels, representing 988,979 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 528 vessels (779,349 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, and 440 vessels (209,630 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included 10 meat cargoes—four frpm Australia, three from New Zealand, and three from South America—comprising 452,000 carcasses of lamb and mutton, 69,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits, and sundries.
