An amazing record of longevity is that of the Hobart-born Miles family of eight, all of whom are living and whose ages aggregate 643 years, says a Hobart paper. The members of the family, whose ages are, respectively 89, 87, 85, 82, 79, 77, 74 and 70 are Mr Alfred Miles (Melbourne), Captain E. T. Miles (Ringwood, Vic.), Messrs Arthur R. Miles (Balmoral, S ydney), and William Miles (Hay, N.S.W.), Mesdames Elizabeth A. Petteid (Moonah), Emma Burns (U 1 verstone), Julia Rushford (North Hobart), and H. L. Chaplin (Launceston). Their mother, Mrs Elizabeth Miles, was born in Hobart and died at the age of 94, and their father, Mr Alfred Miles, an Englishman, died at 50. There were 58 descendants of the family, and 50 are living.
