HOWARD—COLATZ
Much kindly interest was shown in a wedding ceremony celebrated recently at St. Mary's Church. The bride was Rita May, only daughter of Mr C. Colatz and the late Mrs Colatz of Timaru and the groom John Henry, eldest son of Mrs Howard and the late Mr E. Howard, Timaru. The Ven. Archdeacon H. W. Monaghan officiated, and Mr A. W. Vine presided at the organ.
Chrysanthemums of bronze and yellow tints were used for decorations on the altar. The bride was given away by her father. Her gown of parchment wind-, swept lace girdled with silver cord, was fashioned with long fitting sleeves and cowled neck, while the skirt flared very fully from the knees into soft folds about her feet. From a halo of silver leaves and blossom the veil of bridal tulle billowed into a long train. She held a bouquet of freesias and abutilons. Miss Thelma Rayner who attended as maid, wore a frock of primrose georgette and carried a bouquet of tangerine and loman shaded abutilons to tone with her bandeau of velvet flowers. The style of frock chosen showed bell sleeves and a square yoke in front on which two petalled flowers were set, and at the shoulders a ruched frill continued down to the waist at the back from which a girdle of tangerine velvet was loosely knotted. Mr Laurie Howard was best man and Messrs Fred Colatz and George Howard acted as ushers. The reception was held at the Stafford. The bride travelled in a triple georgette frock of navy blue featuring wide bishop sleeves and skirt inset with panels of knife pleating and finished with Peter Pan collar of dull silver lame. Her smart navy hat had a stiffened eye veil and she also wore a handsome musquash fur coat.
