WAIMATE RACES

That racing maintains its ardent devotees was exemplified on Saturday when Waimate held its hunt meeting. In these days, distance is a neligible quantity and many folk were In evidence from up and down the coast. There was a general happy and sporting spirit abroad. The day was fine but overcast, yet it was just as perfect as one could wish for. It had produced a host of trim tailored tweeds—checked and plain with attractive little hats. Brown again was the most favoured colour from rust tones to deepest mahogany, chocolate and nut. Many shades of blue were favoured and the tailored suits and ensembles in its tone were very smart and becoming for the wearers.
