CEREMONY OF LIGHTING THE TORCH United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright ( Received July 19, 6.30 p.m.) ATHENS, July 18. Large crowds are expected to be present at the lighting of the Olympic Torch. The King of Greece will not attend, but will watch the special ceremony at the stadium at Athens. A cavalcade of charabancs and motors will follow the relay runners, who will be given a civic welcome in a host of Greek towns until they reach the frontier. OPPOSITION OLYMPIA STRONG SUPPORT AT BARCELONA United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph— Copyright (Received Jlily 19, 630 p.m,) BARCELONA, July 18. Seyen thousand athletes from most countries, including the United States, are participating in the “Peoples Olympiad,” a reply to the Nazi propaganda, in connection with the Olympic Games. The Exhibition Grounds will be transformed into a sportsmen’s city. France is sending over 1000 athletes. The Soviet is represented by 100 athletes, which is the largest team ever sent out of Russia. COLLAPSE OF SWIMMER BLOW FOR JAPANESE CHANCES United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 19, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 17. The Berlin correspondent of the Australian Associated Press says that a sensation was caused at the Olympic swimming pool when the Japanese champion, Yusa, broke down and collapsed after swimming a few yards, with shoulder trouble, due to excessive training. Aral, the fast Japanese swimmer, is also showing a tendency to fall off for the same reason. BRITISH OLYMPIAD TEAM BROTHER AND SISTER INCLUDED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright (Received July 19, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 19. A brother and sister unprecedentedly are included in the Olympiad with the inclusion of Miss A. Brown, sister of A. G. K. Brown, as sprinter in the British women’s Olympic Games team, after gaining third place in the British 100 metres championship.
