Messrs E. Dawson, E. Andrews (Christchurch), and J. R. Coates (Dunedin) are guests at the Balmoral. Messrs F. J. Kent, E. J. Woodbury (Christchurch), R. R. Gower (Dunedin), and L. Cummins (Wellington) are registered at the Dominion. The death occurred yesterday of Dr. Peter Alexander Lindsay, aged 73. He had been in practice in Auckland since 1889. Messrs T. w. Davidson, M. Jenkins (Wellington), H. W. Taylor, A. Kaye, W. D. Black (Christchurch), C. N. Campbell, J. H. Nlmmo and J. Fairbairn (Dunedin) are staying at the Empire. A movement is on foot in Gisborne to commemorate the service to the district and the Dominion of the late Sir James Carroll by commissioning a portrait to be hung In the National Art Gallery. The Hon. Peter Fraser and the Director of Education (Mr T. N. Lambourn) expect to arrive in Timaru from the south next Thursday evening. They will spend Friday visiting the Harbour and Hospital Boards and schools, and will attend a meeting regarding intermediate schools in the evening. Messrs W. Hollobin, J. Ainger, G. R. Berry, Walter Baxter, M. Bunt, A. D. Carter, B. Fellowes, A. L. Tucker, D. C. Crozier- (Christchurch), J. Redding, J. Smyth, R. H. Young, R. C. Murray (Wellington), H. H. Camp, S. G. Elliot (Auckland), H. H. Sykes (Dunedin) and A. D. Mclntyre (Sydney) are guests at the Grosvenor. The position of Quartermaster-General of the New Zealand Military Forces, which will become vacant this month when Lieutenant-Colonel Futtick, of the New Zealand Staff Corps, leaves for England to attend the Imperial Defence College, is to be filled by the appointment of Lieutenant-Colonel R. A. Row. who is at present chief staff officer of’ the Central I Command.
