LOCAL BODIES

MACHINERY FOR AMALGAMATION By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 8. A Bill to be introduced when the Parliamentary session is resumed will give an indication of the Government’s policy regarding the amalgamation of local bodies. It will be in charge of the Hon. W. E. Parry, who said he could not at present give details of the scope of the legislation, but it was one that should have been submitted to Parliament long ago. “Its provisions,” said Mr Parry, “would be timely, and I think helpful and appreciated in the administration of local government in the Dominion.”
