Miss M. Kelland, Oamaru, is staying at the Dominion. Mr and Mrs M. McTigue, Wellington, are guests at the Grosvenor.
Mrs C. Burden, Woodbury, will leave to-day on a visit to Miss Bromley Cocks, Christchurch.
Mrs F. G. M. Raymond, Beverley Road, has returned from a visit to Christchurch.
Miss R. Blakely, Waikari, is staying with her sister, Mrs R. S. Goodman, Wai-iti Road.
Miss Isabel Cleary, who is the guest of Mrs Bruce Baxter, Evans Street, will return to-day to Lyttelton. Mrs M. Sams, who was the guest of Mrs Wilford Scott, Maltby Avenue, has returned to Cave. Miss McKellar, Dunedin, who has been the guest of Mrs G. A. Macdonald, Orari Estate, has returned to the south.
Miss Jean Stevenson, National General Secretary of New Zealand for the Y.W.C.A. is staying at the Hostel, Arthur Street.
Madame Gower-Burns and her daughter, Mrs Harris, who were staying at Beverley House, Wai-iti Road, have returned to Christchurch.
Miss Mary Marshall has arrived from Wellington to spend a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs D. H. Marshall, Orbell Street.
Mrs Clive Crozier, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite, Elizabeth Street, has returned to Christchurch.
Mrs E. Thompson and Miss Nancy Thompson, Beverley House, Wai-iti Road, have returned from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Thompson left yesterday for Dunedin. “The Marechale,” a woman preacher, who is the eldest daughter of the late General William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and is a sister to the present General Evangeline Booth, has arrived in Auckland by the Aorangl on her way to Australia. For 25 years “The Marechale” (a title of honour given by the French people) preached in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland. She faced the mobs of Paris and Geneva with the Gospel as her sole weapon. Braving the fiercest persecution in Switzerland she was twice arrested and Imprisoned in that country, After retiring several years ago from the Salvation Army “The Marechale” determined to devote herself to the work of Interdenominational Church Evangelism, and is now affiliated with the Mlldmay Movement of England.
