RADIO PROGRAMMES

To the Editor of “ The Timaru Herald ” Sir—Would you kindly allow me to vent my spleen upon the powers that be (and soon apparently not to be) for their persistence in inflicting upon the listeners of New Zealand Eb and Zeb and Japanese houseboy. These have been ridiculed in the daily press, school magazines and in countless homes. I understand they are broadcast on a royalty basis, which accentuates the grievance. Now, Sir, I am not alone in this as I trust your column will reveal. Surely our national sense of humour has been strained long enough. In conformation with recent practice, may I suggest that Eb and Zeb and the Japanese houseboy be given their “running shoes.”—l am, etc., PATIENT. Timaru, June 10.
