H. Allchurch and Co. advertise their Rialto sale for to-day. Included in the list is a quantity of superior furniture, carpet, rug and numberous otherTihes, also 50 sacks fowl wheat and; oats, fruit, etc., etc. A few of will be seen in the auction columns.

The monthly meeting of the Young People's Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday Mr J. Alexander presided, and Mrs Head. District Y Superintendent, was also present. There was a fair attendance of members. Mr Cliff Scarff gave a very interesting scientific lecturette;-, Arrangements were made for holding a debate at the next meeting. A short address was given by Mr Alexander on “Wise Spending and Saving/.’

The attention of telephone,-sub-scribers is drawn to the advertisement appearing in this issue in connection with the payment of telephone l exchange rental accounts.

To-day at 1.30 p.m. at the Wentworth Auction Mart, a sale of Harley bike, ladies’ and gents’ bikes, 'futfiiture, electrolux. Singer machine, pianos, radios, plants, billiard table, ett., will be held.

There is every indication that ihe competitive sections of the §euth Canterbury Winter Show will’be'fully representative of the talent of the South Island. Applications for schedules have come from almost every district, and with 25 sections and 220 classes, this part of the show should be highly successful. Intending competitors are again reminded that entries close to-morrow (Saturday).
