PUBLIC NOTICES TIMARU MAYORAL ELECTION MR C. E. KERR Candidate for the Mayoralty, WILL ADDRESS THE ELECTORS OF TIMARU In THE LITTLE PLAYHOUSE, On THURSDAY, JUNE 11, At 8 p.m. TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND PAYMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31st MARCH, 1937 AND INTENTION TO MAKE AND LEVY RATES. PURSUANT to Section 79 of “Tire Municipal Corporations Act. 1933” PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the proposed expenditure of the Timaru Borough Council for the year ending 31st March, 1937, exclusive of expenditure out of loan moneys, separate accounts and the Trading Departments, is £77,986; the estimated receipts in reduction thereof are £22.135 (including an estimated deficit of £800) and the additional sum required to be raised by rates is £55,851. The total rateable value of the property on the valuation roll is £1,610,700 and the rates thereon necessary to raise the money required is 63d in the £ of the unimproved value of the rateable property within the Borough of Timaru, of which the general rate is 3.397 d in the £. The above-mentioned estimated were approved by the Timaru Borough Council at a Meeting held in the Council Chambers on Monday, the Bth June, 1936, at 7.30 p.m. In pursuance of Section 54 of the Rating Act, 1925, it is further publicly notified that the Timaru Borough Council will at an Ordinary Meeting t be held in the Council Chambers on Monday, the 13th July, 1936, at 7.30 p.m. make and levy the following rates for a period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1936, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1937, and the said rates shall become payable in one sum on Saturday, the Ist day of August, 1936, to the Borough Rate Collector at the Office of the Timaru Borough Council, King George’s Place, Timaru, viz.:— A CONSOLIDATED RATE: (Under Section 96 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933) of sixpence three farthings (63d) in the £ on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Timaru, comprising a General Rate (under Section 77 of the said Act) of 3.397 d in the £. A special rate (under Section 96 of the said Act) of 2.297 d in the £. An annual Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate (under Section 46 to 59) (inclusive) of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926) of .681 d in the £ to pay the levy made by the S.C. Hospital Board on the Borough of Timaru for the current year. An annual Harbour Rate (under the authority of Section 4 of the Timaru Harbour Board Empowering Act, 1890) of .375 d in the £ to pay the levy of the Timaru Harbour Board on the Borough of Timaru for the current year. WATER RATES as follows, under the authority of Section 84 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933. (a) Ordinary supply on all lands and dwelling houses to which water is supplied, a rate of two pennies in the pound on the unimproved value, provided that if such rate would produce less than Ten Ten Shillings in respect of any such land or dwelling house, a charge of Ten Shillings shall be made and levied. (b) On all lands and dwelling houses to which water can be. but is not supplied, situated within one hundred yards of any part of the Waterworks, a rate of one half of the rates above mentioned. (c) On all buildings other than dwelling houses, a rate of one half of the rates mentioned in paragraph (a) hereof. Pursuant to Section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, an additional charge of ten per centum will be added to all of the aforesaid rates which remain unpaid after the fifteenth day of February, 1937. Pursuant to Section 54 of the Rating Act, 1925, Public Notice is also hereby given that the Valuation Roll is now open for inspection without fee by all ratepayers during the office hours at the office of the Timaru Borough Council. A full statement of the above proposed expenditure and estimated receipts is now open for inspection at the aforesaid office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Dated at Timaru this 9th day of June, 1936.
