SERIOUS ACCIDENT MAN LOSES ARM Serious injuries necessitating the amputation of his right arm below the elbow were suffered by Thomas George . Cochrane, a married man with five | children, of Opie Street, Waimate, when his arm was caught in a header harvester at Glenavy on Saturday morning. Cochrane is at present in the Waimate Hospital, where his condition yesterday was reported to be satisfactory. Cochrane’s arm was caught in the drum of the machine and was badly mangled and lacerated. Several severe gashes were also inflicted on his face. The injured man was rushed to hospital by car, where Dr. R. G. Shackleton Immediately performed an operation. At the time of the accident Cochrane was operating a header harvester owned by Messrs Trembath and Co., Waimate, on the farm of Mr Andrews, Glenavy.
