SWIMMING
Y.M.C.A. CLUB At the Y.M.C.A. Swimming Club’s first club night since the new year, there was a good attendance of swimmers and weather conditions were ideal. Results, of the races were;— Prep. Boys’ 2 Width Handicap- J. McPherson (3sec) 1, I. Berryman (Isec) 2, A. Moore (scr) 3. Time, 20 l-ssec. Junior Boys’ 33 1-5 Yards Handicap —J. Rendall (Isec) 1, W. Morrison (2sec) 2, M. Moore (scr) 3. Time, 28 2-ssec. Junior Girls’ 66 2-3 Yards Handicap —P. Coxhead (scr), 1, A. Coxhead (3sec) 2, S. McPherson (ssec) 3. Time, Imin 9 l-ssec. Intermediate Boys’ 66 2-3 Yards Handicap—S. Watson (scr) 1, G. Smythe (4sec) 2, I. Little (3sec) 3. Boys’ Dive—J. McPherson 1, A. Moore and M. Moore equal 2, J. Rendall 4. Girls’ Dive—P. Coxhead 1, A. Coxhead 2, Z. Jordan 3. Intermediate Boys’ Dive—G. Smythe 1, W. Donnithorne 2, I. Little 3. The club has been fortunate in securing the services of Mr P. Wisker as coach. Mr Wisker directed the training of Dave Lindsay, and is at present coaching a number of leading South Canterbury swimmers. As the Y.M.C.A. has a number of promising junior and intermediate swimmers, the services of Mr Wisker should be of great value to the club and its members.
