BAN ON PLAYS
QUEEN VICTORIA AS HEROINE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received February 5, 5.5 pm.) LONDON, February 4. Since King Edward’s accession, the Lord Chamberlain’s office has received many inquiries from theatrical agents wishing to negotiate for plays in which Queen Victoria is the heroine, but the ban on public representation remains rigid. Thirteen plays on themes based on Queen Victoria’s regime, by Lawrence Houseman await permission for production in England, though the latest “Victoria Regina” is now being played successfully in New York.
