BOWLING
AUSTRALIANS DEPART. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. February 4. The New South Wales bowlers will sail for Sydney to-day. In an interview, Mr Heath, the president of the New South Wales Association, said that the Australians were surprised at the number of bowling clubs in New Zealand and the number of day tournaments also surprised them. They hoped to take some useful hints back to Australia about that. The Dominion tournament had been well run, but the visitors considered that the two life system prolonged play unnecessarily. The New Zealanders claimed that it removed the clement of luck, but he did not think luck could be eliminated from bowls, and he was doubtful if it would be an advantage to dispose of it. Speaking of the touring facilities, he said that they found the roads excellent and the sign posting was better than in Australia. The hotels compared more than favourably with the hotels in the towns and cities of the same size in Australia, particularly in the matter of lounge space and furnishings. ,
