SLIPPED OVER CLIFF
BANK CLERK’S DEATH By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, January 27. Details of the fatal accident to a bank clerk, Archibald John Dobbie, of Invercargill, who lost his life in the Upper Hollyford Valley on Sunday, show that with Messrs Dawson and Borrie, of Dunedin, he was climbing a steep spur covered with vegetation on Mount Bell, opposite the Homer Hut. They had emerged from the bush and were proceeding along the foot of the face above a high cliff when be lost his foothold and slipped 400 to 500 feet down the mountain side. His companions, who were ahead, did not actually witness the accident, but saw Dobbie' falling, and immediately returned to the Public Works camp, from which men were sent out and located the body within 10 minutes. Dobbie was badly injured, and the indications were that he was killed instantaneously.
