SILENT SOUTH
NO NEWS OF LINCOLN ELLSWORTH
SEARCH BY WYATT EARP United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 5, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 4. The North American Newspaper Alliance Copyright message from the Wyatt Earp says: For five days the Wyatt Earp travelled within 600 miles of Lincoln Ellsworth’s trans-Antarctic route, but a sharp watch failed to detect any radio signals. With a strong following wind, the vessel is speeding in a westerly direction, and north of the ice pack, en route to the Bay of Whales. To-day’s noon position was latitude 68.32 deg., longitude 114.46. This is in the vicinity of the point Rear-Admiral Byrd reached in the Ruppert, and made his flight south. We are still 2000 miles from the Bay of Whales.
