CAR OVERTURNS

YOUNG WOMAN FATALLY INJURED

When a car driven by John McLean Hunter overturned near the comer of Preston Street and Wai-iti Road early yesterday morning, Miss Helen Lilian McKay (21) who resided at Ranfurly Street, received serious head injuries from which she died in a private hospital a few hours later. The car was proceeding west along Wai-iti Road when it apparently became out of control and overturned. Miss McKay being seriously' injured. She was attended by Dr G. R. Kingston and was removed to hospital where she died without regaining consciousness. The driver of the car received only slight injuries and after medical attention was able to proceed to his home.

An inquest was opened yesterday morning before the Coroner (Mr A. L. Gee) and after evidence of identification had been given by Miss McKay’s father, Hugh Walter McKay, it was adjourned sine die.
