DRIVERS’ DISPUTE

NO AGREEMENT ON WAGES By Telegraph—Pres9 Association WELLINGTON, December 12. A difference of 2/6 a week between the wages claimed by the Union and those the employers were prepared to pay, prevented a complete agreement in Conciliation Council proceedings today in which the. New Zealand Federated Drivers and Related Trades Industrial Union of Workers asked for a new Dominion award. The employers offered £4/15/- on condition that overtime rates remained as in the present award. The Union demanded £4/17/6. It was agreed to submit the matter to the Arbitration Court. The daily hours were fixed at 10 within a total span of 13, with a maximum week without overtime of 52. Overtime remains the same as in the old award.
