Mr B. W. Hilton (Dunedin) is a guest at the Grand. The Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., passed through Timaru yesterday by the express for the north. Messrs John Scott (Dunedin), D. McCaskey (Christchurch) and N. Dentice (Wellington) are registered at the Empire. Guests at the Balmoral include Messrs T. Bennet (Auckland), B. G. Drewett (Christchurch), and Mrs A. W. Thomson (Gore). Messrs H. A. Hungerford, J. Jackson, R. G. Bradley (Christchurch) and E. Rhodes (Dunedin) are registered at the Dominion. Mr R. S. Forsyth, C.M.G., London Manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, arrived in Timaru from Invercargill yesterday and is staying at the Grosvenor. Mr Doric L. Alg'e, M.A., of Auckland has been appointed second lecturer in classics, by the Auckland University College Council. Mr H. C. McQueen, M.A., of Dunedin, has been appointed second lecturer in education. Mr W. C. Christie, who has been manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Wanganui for the past nine years, is retiring at the end of this year. His successor, Mr R. J. McDonald, is at present manager of the bank’s Taumarunui branch, Messrs R. L. Cox (Auckland), A. H. Tucker, J. ,H. A, Moore, Wyn Cowlishaw, I. Anderson, E. C. A. Ferrier, E. F. Nicoll (Christchurch), R. H. Parton, W. A. Morton, H. W. Beddell (Wellington), J. R. Maxted, R. ,A. Bishop and H. W. Fenton (Dunedin) are staying at the Grosvenor.
