Vistors’ Uneven Batting. A partnership of 150 runs by Hardstaff and Langridge saved Marylebone from a possible rout, after the English batsmen had succumbed to the good bowling of Ebeling and Chilvers. Hardstaff played a flawless, fighting knock. His century was made in just over three hours and included nine boundaries. Practically all of his runs were made in front of the wicket, his cover and straight drives being magnififleent. Langridge, who was dropped before he scored, played a correct, steady innings. He batted for 145 minutes. Accurate Bowling. The bowling was accurate throughout the day, but the fielding of the Australians was atrocious, no fewer than seven easy catches being dropped. Barber was missed twice in one over from Chilvers. Hardstaff batted for over four hours. He hit 15 fours and gave only one very hard chance when the had scored 121 Following are the scores:— M.C.C. AUSTRALIANS IN AFRICA HEALTH OF PLAYERS RESTORED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 7, 12.56 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, December 6. The Australian cricketers have shaken off the dizziness which attacked them on arrival at Johannesburg, as

a result of the high altitude. O’Reilly is fit again and was particularly accurate while practising at the nets. Richardson refused to allow O’Brien to fight Laurie Stevens, the South African undefeated lightweight champion, on the ground that even an exhibition bout might occasion injury and he was not prepared to take risks with only fourteen players at his disposal. TARRANT’S TEAM IN INDIA UMPIRE OVERRULES HOME SIDE’S CAPTAIN United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 7, 12.56 a.m.) BOMBAY, December 6. The match between Frank Tarrant's Australian team and the Yuvraj of Patiala’s XI. was continued to-day. The Australians in the first innings made 268. There was a sensational incident when Love was given out leg-before-wicket on an appeal by Nissar. Love was walking away, when he was called back by the Yuvraj, who was fielding at silly mid-off. It is understood that the Yuvraj considered that Love played the ball. When Love came back to the crease, the umpire firmly ordered him away and did not even consult the Yuvraj.
