GOOD WILL FLIGHT

BRITISH AIR SQUADRON TO VISIT JAPAN British Official Wireless (Received December 5, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 4. Arrangements are being made, with permission of the Japanese Government for a squadron of the Royal Air Force to carry out a flight from Singapore to Japan—the first visit of the kind. The cruise will be undertaken by No. 205 Squadron, equipped with Short Singapore flying boats. The flight will begin about the middle of February and will be completed In the second week in March. The length of the round flight will be approximately 7000 miles. The route for the outward journey will be Singapore, Sarawak, Philippine Islands, Hongkong, Amoy, China, Shanghai, Kagoshima, Toklo, Tokyama or some other place approved by the Japanese Government. The visit to Japan will last about a week. Air-Commodore Smith, commanding the Royal Air Force in the Far East, will accompany the squadron. Three flying boats are being employed, with a total crew of 25 officers and airmen. Facilities are also being sought from other Governments to enable the squadron to fly over and alight at ports in their territories.
