TIMARU TO CH

ANNUAL MEETING A satisfactory year’s operations were reveiwed at the fourth annual meeting of the Timaru Group of Toe H on Monday. The chairman, Mr R. J. Runciman, presided over a large attendance of members. The secretary, Mr D. W. Beswick, presented the annual report, which dealt fully with Group activities. A decided improvement was noticeable over the latter half of the year. It was pleasing to note the membership had remained fairly constant. During the year the Group had lost one of its most loyal members, William Tennant, and a motion of condolence had been forwarded to the relatives. The “Stand To” service at dawn on Anzac Day, in which members of the Returned Soldiers' Association co-opera-ted, was most successful. Several guest nights were held during the year. The Rev. J. Evans had held the position of Group Padre during the year and had given splendid service. While regretting his impending departure for the West Coast, members wished him every success in his new sphere. An appeal was made to members to co-operate with the executive during the coming year, so that a confident application could be made for Branch status at the end of the period. Mr J. M. Gliddon, assistant Jobmaster, gave a brief resume of the work undertaken during the past 12 months. The financial statement was outlined by the treasurer, Mr J. Watt, and revealed a satisfactory credit balance. Congratulations on a very creditable year’s work were conveyed by Mr W. G. Tweedy, who paid a tribute to the work of the various officers. He referred to the coming visit of the Dominion Organiser, which would probably take place in February. After a brief di mssion the reports and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Mr D. W. Beswick; secretary, Mr J. Watt; assistant secretary, Mr. H. E. Bungate ‘‘Ventilator” correspondent, Mr A. McKirdy; treasurer, Mr A. Sultherland; Jobmaster, Mr W. J. H. Castle; assistant Jobmaster, M J. M. Gliddon; member of Executive, Messrs J. Kean and R. W. Watson. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing officers.
