The records yesterday were:— Barometer—3o.34. Min. temp, on grass—sl.o. Wind—N.E.3. Rainfall—Nil. Rainfall to date this year— 18.74in5. Rainfall to date last year—2s.26ins. Sunshine—7.l hours. Sunshine to date this year—l6ll.6hrs Maximum temp.—6B.6. IN OTHER CENTRES Ashburton—The weather was very pleasant in Ashburton both on Sunday and yesterday, the sun shining in a hazy sky. The temperature was variable. A fresh north-easterly wind prevailed on Sunday, and yesterday morning, but the temperature became considerably warmer in the afternoon, when the wind veered more to the north. Temuka—Yesterday was the hottest day for some time, the shade temperature rising to 70 degrees, while the minimum temperature was 50 degrees. The glass remained unusually high throughout the day. Geraldine—Air temperatures, minimum 53, maximum 76, at 9 a.m., 66 light easterly breeze. Bright and fine. Orarl Gorge—The rainfall for November was 6.78 in. Rain fell on 16 days, the maximum fall being 1.07in. on the 14th. The rainfall to date is 37.45in„ and for the same period last year, 42.18in. The rainfall for November, 1934, was 2.91in. Lake Tekapo—The following are the meteorological figures for Lake Tekapo for November. The sun shone on 27 days for a total of 194.7 hours, a daily average of 6.4 hours. The sunshine for the year totals 2227.7 hours, a daily average of 6.6 hours. The rainfall for the month was 2.15in5., and for the year 22.85in5. Rain fell on 9 days. Waimate —(24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday). Barometer, 30.55 (steady); thermometer, highest 67, lowest 40.5; wind gauge, miles run in the previous 24 hours—l4l; bright sunshine, 13 hours 40 minutes. Yesterday was fine with a steady N.E. wind. DOMINION METEOROLOGIST General situation—An intense anticyclone lies over and east of New Zealand, and a depression of only moderate intensity is located over the Western Tasman Sea. Winds —Variable at first but northeast to north prevailing and gradually freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters)—Slight or moderate, increasing in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate but freshening northerly winds, seas slight to moderate, but increasing. Weather—Fair to fine and mild. MR F. L. WOOLES Wind—Moderate north-east to northerly. , Weather—Fine and warm. Outlook for week ending, December 9—Wind mainly easterly to northerly; weather, except for some likely showers during the latter part of the period, mainly fair and warm.
