ADDINGTON MARKET SHARP ADVANCE IN VALUE OF BEEF CHRISTCHURCH, September 18. The feature of to-day’s Addington market was the sharp advance in the value of beef, best quality making from 31/- to 34per 1001 b, with instances of up to 36/-. Store sheep—There was little change in hogget values, but ewes and lambs were- slighly dearer. Ewe hoggets made to 28/9. Spring lambs—One hundred and fifty were penned, and values were down by 3/6 a head. The best price was 25/4. Fat sheep—There was an entry of 370. Wethers were a shade easier, but ewes retained last week’s values. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 34/10, prime heavy 27/- to 31/-, prime medium weight 25/- to 26/-, ordinary 21/to 24/-, light to 20/6, extra prime heavy ewes to 34/1, prime heavy 22/6 to 25/6, prime medium weight 19/6 to 22/-, ordinary 18/- to 10/3, light and aged to 17/6. Fat cattle—There were 395 penned. Values were about 3/- per 1001 b better than last week. Extra prime heavy steers made to £ls 17s 6d, prime heavy £ll 10s to £l3 10s, prime medium weight £lO to £ll 15s, ordinary £6 10s to £9 ss, extra prime heifers to £lO 12s 6d, prime £7 to £8 15s, ordinary £5 to £6 ss, extra prime eows to £lO 12s 6d, prime £6 5s to £7 ss. ordinary £4 15s to £5 15s. Fat pigs—There was a large entry and a weaker demand throughout for porkers. Light porkers made 26/6 to 32/6, medium 33/- to 36/6, heavy to £2 (average price per lb sid to 6d). baeoners 50/- to £3 ss, heavy £3 7s 6d to £3 15s, extra heavy to £3 18s 6d (average price std to 6d) choppers £3 to £5 10s.
